Veterinary Emergency Care Australia

VECA NorwestVet
VECA Norwest is a purpose-built 24/7 emergency vet hospital located at 7/2 Capital Place, Rouse Hill, NSW. We're the only purpose-built vet in Norwest for after-hours pet care across the Hills District of Sydney, including Bella Vista, Kellyville, Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill and Rouse Hill. Our focus at our Norwest vet hospital is emergency care, surgery and diagnostic imaging for dogs and cats.
We don't offer routine veterinary care like vaccinations, dental cleans or desexing at our Norwest animal hospital. For day-to-day pet care, your regular GP veterinarian is the right port of call. We work closely with referring vets across Sydney.
If your pet needs general practice through VECA, our Campbelltown animal hospital offers GP veterinary care alongside emergency care. If your pet needs urgent help, you don't need to book. Just come straight in.

24/7 emergency vet care in Norwest
Pet emergencies don't keep business hours, and neither do we. Our Norwest vet clinic is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with a team of veterinarians, veterinary nurses and support staff on site around the clock. As a Norwest after-hours emergency vet, we're open when pets need us most, whether it's the middle of the night, a public holiday, or after hours on a weekend
.
Come straight in if your pet is showing any of the following:
-
Collapse or sudden weakness
-
Difficulty breathing
-
Suspected poisoning (chocolate, snail bait, medications, household chemicals)
-
Trauma from a fall, fight or vehicle
-
Snake bite or suspected snake bite
-
Repeated vomiting, bloating or signs of severe pain
-
Seizures
-
Inability to urinate, particularly in male cats
If you're unsure whether something counts as an emergency, give us a call on +61 2 9129 5800. We'd much rather you call than wait. At VECA, we operate much like a human emergency hospital, so the sickest pets are seen first rather than in order of arrival. A triage nurse will assess your pet on arrival, then a veterinarian will discuss what's happening, recommended emergency care and costs with you before treatment begins. If your pet needs critical care, our overnight hospitalisation team will monitor them through the night.
Surgical services at VECA Norwest
Our Norwest emergency vet runs a fully equipped surgical suite 24 hours a day for dogs and cats. If your pet needs urgent surgery, we can do it then and there. We don't make pets wait until morning, and we don't transfer them out.

Common surgery cases we handle at our Norwest hospital include:
-
Soft tissue surgery
-
Trauma repair and wound management
-
Foreign body removal (the swallowed sock, the chicken bone, the corn cob)
-
Exploratory abdominal surgery
-
Gastric dilatation-volvulus (bloat) surgery
-
Emergency caesarean surgery

Every surgical patient is monitored under anaesthetic by a dedicated veterinary nurse, with full post-operative hospitalisation on site for recovery. For more involved cases, we work with specialist referral partners across Sydney.

Diagnostic imaging and in-house testing
Our Norwest vet hospital has on-site diagnostic imaging and a full in-house laboratory, so we can run the diagnostics we need without waiting on external labs.

Digital x-ray for fast, high-quality imaging
-
