No, you do not need to book an appointment for emergencies. Our emergency department is open 24/7, and you can bring your pet in at any time. If you're unsure whether it's an emergency, it's always safest to call us first.

We operate just like a human emergency room, this means each patient is triaged on arrival and the sickest patients receive care first. 🟥 Critical or life-threatening cases are seen immediately. 🟧 Stable but urgent patients are prioritised based on their condition. 🟩 Less urgent cases may need to wait if more critical patients arrive. Rest assured, you and your pet will be kept comfortable during this period. We know waiting can be stressful, but this triage system ensures that every pet gets the necessary care at the right time.

We welcome and encourage owners to stay with their pets during examinations. Your presence can provide comfort and help ease anxiety, making the experience less stressful for both you and your pet. However, during critical or emergency situations, our team may need to act quickly and prioritise life-saving treatment. In these moments, we may ask you to wait in our reception area to allow our team to focus entirely on your pet’s care. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process and do everything we can to reunite you as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Every case is unique and we will work with you to discuss treatment options and agree on a plan that works for you and your pet. Pets that require overnight monitoring, intensive care, or ongoing treatment will be cared for by our experienced team who are onsite 24/7, so rest assured your pet will never be left alone. You will receive clear discharge instructions upon pick up and we will communicate with your regular vet for ongoing care. Whatever the outcome, we’ll keep you fully informed and involved in the decision.

We understand that pet owners may not be prepared for costs associated with emergency veterinary care. If you are concerned about finances, please speak with our triage team when you arrive so that we can work with you to discuss treatment options and talk through different payment methods available. If you have quick access to your pet’s medical records, please bring them with you to the ER. Especially any recent test results, medication lists, or referral letters from your regular vet. However, if you don’t have paperwork on hand, don’t worry. Our team will still be able to assess and treat your pet. We can contact your regular vet directly to request any important medical history.

Yes! Your regular vet will receive a report from us including diagnostics and treatments so they are fully informed and can continue caring for your pet.
