Learn More

We’re here because we care, not conflict.

This isn’t an easy message to share, but it’s an important one.

Social media often shows the happy moments — wagging tails, grateful families, and pets going home. But behind every emergency visit is a dedicated team working long hours, caring for very unwell patients, and doing everything possible to help animals in urgent need.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen a surge in emergency cases. Alongside this, we have also experienced an increase in aggression and inappropriate behaviour directed toward our team.

We understand how distressing it is when your pet is unwell. The uncertainty, the urgency, the financial decisions — it’s overwhelming. Many of us at VECA are pet owners too, and we know how heartbreaking it is when a fur-family member needs emergency care.

Pets are not seen in order of arrival — they are seen based on urgency.

A patient in a life-threatening condition will always be prioritised over those who are stable. Sometimes the waiting room may seem quiet, yet behind the scenes our clinical teams are managing multiple critical patients, life-saving procedures, and intensive care cases.

Delays are never because we don’t care. They are because we care deeply — and we must prioritise those who need us most.

Thank you sincerely for your patience and trust.

A Note About Wait Times

Respect for Our Team

We are here to help — always. But abuse, intimidation, yelling or threats toward our staff will not be tolerated.

Our team comes to work to save lives and support families, not to face hostility. They deserve compassion, understanding, and a safe workplace.

Anyone behaving aggressively may be asked to leave, and police may be contacted if necessary.

We are all here for the same reason — to help pets and the people who love them.

Thank you for helping us keep VECA a safe, caring, and supportive environment for our team, our patients, and our community. ❤️🐾
